The blind poet Fanny Crosby originally wrote 'Jesus,Keep Me Near the Cross' on November 20, 1850 atThirtieth Street Methodist Church in Cincinnati.Businessman William Doane gave her a melody he hadwritten. Fanny, listening to it, felt it said, ?Jesuskeep me near the cross,? and she promptly wrote thewords. This represents an organ and choral arrangementof thei work, with my introduction measures, andprepared for the Sierra Vista United Methodist Church(SVUMC).
